Context

Over the past two months, I had the honor and pleasure of teaching an advanced course on "Logo and Visual Identity Design" at SoftUni Creative. During the lectures, students learned how to think like graphic designers, how to create memorable logos and visual identities that speak to people. Over 150 people took part in the course. Through practical examples, I had the opportunity to show future designers how to read a client brief, how to make initial sketches and drafts of logos, and subsequently how to create a visual identity that builds on the logo. Finally, I shared how I package and deliver the final logo and materials to my clients. This is how Calendula, the flower shop, was born.

The brand

Calendula (latin for marigold) is a small boutique flower shop, originally created as a family venture, inspired by a love of nature and flowers. The flower shop's activities include arranging bouquets, selling potted flowers, event decorations, and subscription services for offices and homes. The name was inspired by my daughter, my greatest inspiration, who was named after the marigold flower. (In case she decides to go into this business one day, at least she already has a logo and visual identity 😅) The pictorial mark itself is a stylized representation of the Мarigold flower, and the inner petals, one of which is deliberately missing, resemble the letter "C," a reference to the brand's name.
